The 2023 GLC 300 marks a generational reset for one of Mercedes-Benz's most important nameplates. Longer, wider, and more technologically sophisticated than the model it replaces, this X254-generation GLC arrives as a genuinely new car - not an evolution, but a considered reinvention of what a compact luxury SUV can be.
Beneath the bonnet, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder works in concert with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to produce 190kW and 400Nm, delivered through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The mild-hybrid assistance adds a layer of refinement to low-speed driving - smoothing the stop-start system to near imperceptibility and recovering energy under braking - while keeping the GLC's real-world fuel consumption meaningfully in check.
The interior is where this generation makes its most compelling statement. The new MBUX Superscreen - an expansive 12.3-inch driver display paired with an 11.9-inch central touchscreen - creates a cabin environment that is at once more digital and more intuitive than anything the GLC has previously offered. It is, simply put, a genuinely premium interior.
Outside, the new GLC's proportions are sharper and more assured - a longer wheelbase translating directly into rear passenger space that the previous generation could not match.
